The King had been haunted by dreams for weeks. Night after night, he woke with screams, wild eyes, cold sweats. He told his young queen that his past was coming for him.

The king was not an evil man, but he was harsh and merciless. He was a product of his time. Cruelty was the bond which kept the crown upon his head. A demon named Guilt slashed at his soul with a blade of regret.

Soon, the king could sleep no more, and he took to staying up at night in his throne room. Madness crept in. Night after night, he would drift into sleep. Night after night, his cries echoed through the palace. His queen, ever devoted, would run to him to find him terrorized in his sleep.

One night the king, exhausted, insane, horrified king cried out. As always, his queen rushed to him.
